Wednesday tours
We have prepared a selection of Wednesday afternoon tours for all conference participants, offering both sightseeing experiences within Prague and excursions to remarkable destinations outside the city. All tours listed below are included in the conference registration fee.
Please note that the number of groups and available places is limited, and we therefore strongly recommend early registration.
Tour registration will open from 29 May, 12:00 and will remain available until 10 June.
Participants will be able to register for their preferred tour after logging into the conference registration system, using the same platform as for abstract submission and conference registration.
Sightseeing Tours of Prague
[A] Classical Prague Walk
A timeless introduction to Prague’s most iconic landmarks. This classic walking tour leads through the historic centre, showcasing Gothic, Baroque, and Renaissance architecture while revealing stories of kings, astronomers, and scholars who shaped the city.
[B] Prague City Walk: Historic Centre
Immerse yourself in the heart of Old Prague, where history is etched into every cobblestone. You will see the iconic Old Town Square, cross the legendary Charles Bridge, and discover places where science met architecture — from the historic Carolinum to sites connected to Einstein and Tycho Brahe.
[C] Prague Castle & Royal Gardens
Explore the world’s largest castle complex, for centuries the seat of Czech monarchs. You will admire the monumental St. Vitus Cathedral, stroll through the serene Royal Gardens with the Belvedere, and enjoy breathtaking panoramic views from the South Gardens.
[D] Prague City Tour with Prague Castle Interiors
Limited capacity – early registration recommended.
This guided tour begins with a transfer from the conference venue to Prague Castle, followed by a visit to selected castle interiors. After exploring the exterior of St. Vitus Cathedral, the tour continues downhill through Nerudova Street and Lesser Town Square, ending at the Charles Bridge.
[E] Jewish Quarter (Josefov) – Heritage & History
Limited capacity – early registration recommended.
Discover the profound heritage of Prague’s Jewish community, spanning over a thousand years. This tour includes an exclusive interior visit to the vibrant Jerusalem (Jubilee) Synagogue, followed by an exterior walk through the historic Jewish Quarter.
[F] Strahov Monastery Library Tour & Walk through the Prague Castle Area

Join us for an afternoon program combining a guided visit to the stunning Strahov Library with a scenic walk through the historic Prague Castle district.

[G] Karlštejn Castle Tour
Limited capacity – early registration recommended.
Excursion to Karlštejn Castle, founded by Emperor Charles IV. After a bus transfer from Prague, participants will walk to the castle and join an exclusive guided tour of the Karlštejn Castle Chapels, including the famous Chapel of the Holy Cross.
[H] Křivoklát Castle & Rückl Glassworks Tour
Limited capacity – early registration recommended.
Join us for an afternoon excursion combining medieval royal history with traditional Czech craftsmanship. After departing from the conference venue, participants will travel by bus to the Rückl Glassworks in Nižbor.
[I] Nelahozeves Castle & Antonín Dvořák Heritage Tour
Limited capacity – early registration recommended.
Join us for an afternoon visit to the Renaissance Castle of Nelahozeves and the birthplace of the world renowned composer Antonín Dvořák.

[Tour D] Prague City Tour with Prague Castle Interiors
Due to limited capacity, early registration is recommended.
This guided tour begins with a transfer from the conference venue to Prague Castle, followed by a visit to selected castle interiors. After exploring the exterior of St. Vitus Cathedral, the tour continues downhill through Nerudova Street and Lesser Town Square, ending at the Charles Bridge.

[Tour F] Strahov Monastery Library Tour & Walk through the Prague Castle Area

Wednesday, July 1, 14:00 – 17:00
Join us for an afternoon program combining a guided visit to the stunning Strahov Library with a scenic walk through the historic Prague Castle district. After transferring from the conference venue to the Strahov Monastery, participants will enjoy a one‑hour guided tour of the library’s famous Baroque and Classicist halls. The tour continues with a relaxed downhill walk past the exteriors of Prague Castle, St. Vitus Cathedral, Nerudova Street, and Lesser Town Square, ending at the Charles Bridge.
ITINERARY
14:00–15:00 Transfer to Strahov Monastery
Participants will depart from the conference venue at 14:00 and travel to the Strahov Monastery complex, located on a hill with panoramic views of Prague. Public transport and admission tickets will be provided to all participants.
15:00–16:00 Guided Tour of the Strahov Library
The highlight of the program is a guided visit to the Strahov Library, one of Europe’s most beautiful historic libraries. The tour includes both the Theological Hall (17th century) and the Philosophical Hall (18th century), featuring thousands of rare volumes, illuminated manuscripts, historical globes, and the unique Cabinet of Curiosities.
Participants will learn about the history of the Premonstratensian order and the cultural significance of this remarkable library.

16:00–17:00 Walk through the Castle District to Charles Bridge
After the library visit, the group will walk downhill toward the Charles Bridge. This final hour is designed as a light, scenic walk rather than a detailed guided tour. Due to time limitations, the walk will focus on enjoying the atmosphere and exteriors of major landmarks:
- Prague Castle exteriors – panoramic views of one of the world’s largest castle complexes
- St. Vitus Cathedral (exterior) – the dominant Gothic landmark of the Czech capital
- Nerudova Street – a charming Baroque street lined with historic house signs
- Malostranské náměstí (Lesser Town Square) – surrounded by palaces and St. Nicholas Church
- Charles Bridge – the tour ends at Prague’s most famous bridge, decorated with Baroque statues

This final section serves primarily to complete the route and enjoy the surroundings; there will not be enough time for in‑depth explanations or interior visits.
[Tour G] Karlštejn Castle Tour

Excursion to Karlštejn Castle, founded by Emperor Charles IV. After a bus transfer from Prague, participants will walk to the castle and join an exclusive guided tour of the Karlštejn Castle Chapels, including the famous Chapel of the Holy Cross. The program concludes with free time for shopping before returning to Prague.

16:05 – Walk from the Parking Area to the Castle
A pleasant uphill walk (approx. 20–25 minutes) through the picturesque village of Karlštejn leads to the castle gates.
17:05 – Guided Tour: Karlštejn Castle Chapels (Exclusive Route)
Participants will enjoy a guided visit of the Karlštejn Castle Chapels, the most prestigious and historically significant part of the castle.
This special tour includes:
- The Chapel of the Holy Cross — one of the most remarkable Gothic interiors in Europe, decorated with 129 panel paintings by Master Theodoric.
- The Chapel of St. Catherine — richly decorated with medieval frescoes.
- The Great Tower — historically used to safeguard the Imperial Regalia and the Czech Crown Jewels.
- This is a premium, limited capacity tour, normally accessible only with advance reservation.
18:45 – Walk Back to the Bus + Shopping Time
19:15 – Departure to Prague
20:15 – Arrival in Prague
Expected arrival back at the conference venue.

[Tour H] Křivoklát Castle & Rückl Glassworks Tour
Due to limited capacity, early registration is recommended.
SCHEDULE
Wednesday, July 1, 13:30 – 18:20
Join us for an afternoon excursion combining medieval royal history with traditional Czech craftsmanship. After departing from the conference venue, participants will travel by bus to the Rückl Glassworks in Nižbor, where they will observe the intricate process of hand blown and hand cut Bohemian crystal. The program continues with a guided visit to Křivoklát Castle, one of the oldest and most important royal residences in the Czech lands. The tour concludes with a return transfer to Prague through the scenic Křivoklát forests.
ITINERARY
13:30–14:40 Transfer to Rückl Glassworks (Nižbor)
Participants will depart from the conference venue at 13:30 and travel by bus to the Rückl Glassworks, located in the picturesque Berounka River valley.
14:40–16:00 Excursion at Rückl Glassworks
The visit includes a guided tour of the glassworks, where participants will see traditional Czech crystal production first hand. The excursion showcases glassblowing, cutting, and finishing techniques that have been passed down through generations of craftsmen. Participants will learn about the history of the Rückl family and the cultural significance of Bohemian crystal.
16:00–17:00 Guided Tour of Křivoklát Castle
After the glassworks visit, the group will continue to Křivoklát Castle. The guided tour features the castle’s Gothic chapel, historic tower, and extensive library, offering insight into the life of medieval Czech royalty. The tour highlights the architectural development of the castle and its role in the history of the Přemyslid and Luxembourg dynasties.
17:00–18:20 Return to Prague
Participants will travel back to Prague by bus. The return journey offers views of the surrounding forests and protected landscape area.
This excursion focuses on experiencing both traditional craftsmanship and medieval heritage; due to time limitations, there will not be enough time for extended exploration beyond the guided program.


[Tour I] Nelahozeves Castle & Antonín Dvořák Heritage Tour

SCHEDULE
Wednesday, July 1, 14:00 – 18:20
Join us for an afternoon visit to the Renaissance Castle of Nelahozeves and the birthplace of the world renowned composer Antonín Dvořák. After departing from the conference venue, participants will travel by bus to Nelahozeves, a historic village overlooking the Vltava River. The program includes a guided tour of the castle’s exceptional Lobkowicz art collections, followed by a visit to Dvořák’s birth house and memorial. The excursion concludes with a return transfer to Prague.

14:00–15:15 Transfer to Nelahozeves
Participants will depart from the conference venue at 14:00 and travel by bus to Nelahozeves, located north of Prague along the Vltava River.
15:15–16:10 Guided Tour of the Renaissance Castle
The guided tour presents one of Europe’s finest private art collections, curated by the Lobkowicz family. Participants will explore Renaissance interiors, period furnishings, and masterpieces from the family’s historic holdings. The tour highlights the cultural importance of the Lobkowicz collections and their connection to Czech and European history.
16:10–17:00 Visit to Antonín Dvořák’s Birth House and Memorial
The program continues with a visit to the birthplace of Antonín Dvořák, located just steps from the castle. Participants will learn about the composer’s early life, musical influences, and personal history in the very rooms where he grew up. The memorial includes historical exhibits, photographs, and artifacts illustrating Dvořák’s legacy.
17:00–18:20 Return to Prague
Participants will travel back to Prague by bus.
This excursion focuses on cultural heritage and historical insight; due to time limitations, the program does not include extended exploration beyond the guided visits.
